What Does It Take to Become BDA-Certified?

Certification for Minority groups

Minority-owned businesses should own at least 51% of the company. “By a representative (or set of participants) of ethnic or racial groups,” according to the federal concept of a minority group.

  • Businesses that have never had a third-party credential must go through a Zoom interview to validate their compliance records.

Veteran’s Recognition

A veteran must own at least 51% of the business.

Certification for LGGBT Individuals

An LGBT individual owns at least 51% of the business.

  • Is not affiliated with any non-LGBT commercial organization.
  • Businesses that have never had a third-party credential must go through a Zoom interview to validate their compliance records.
  • Extra identity proof could be required of businesses.

Certification for women

A woman owns at least 51 percent of the business.

  • Businesses that have never had a third-party qualification must undergo a Zoom interview to validate their applicant details.
  • Businesses will be required to have additional identity evidence.
